Intimate Artist Nights: Paul Levine, Jordyn Stoessel, Catt Filippov & Faith Amrapali Williams

The Makers' Space, 117 Grattan St. Studio 120, Brooklyn

Paul William Levine (he/him) is a playwright and director using dark comedy to explore the historical, social, and cultural systems that link queerness, tragedy, and fate. He loves drinking seltzer, staring directly into the sun, and wearing a seatbelt. My Mother is a Fish is a mini-panic about how to be at peace with life passing you by. You can find more silly plays at paulwilliamlevine.com.

Jordyn Stoessel (she/her) is a Brooklyn based playwright most recently featured in The Chain’s Winter One Act Festival (S.O.F.T. Care, 2024). She looks forward to using the Makers’ Space to develop her newest full length play, SYNESTHESIA. Something smells fishy in this luxury clothing oasis, and it’s not the lesbian pride candles. This farcical romp through retail follows a crew of sales associates as they wrestle with issues of internal theft, white women with returns, and supernatural forces encroaching upon their store. Catch a glimpse of what’s lurking in back stock at this reading!

Karishma has two things in her head: a pesky bug and an exciting piece of news for her mother, Diana. Diana's unexpected response, however, sheds light on experiences she'd never previously unraveled with her daughter. It Crawls Around In My Head explores motherhood both old and new as Karishma and Diana interrogate Karishma's interest in continuing a family tradition.
